Some 8.7 million people watched the special, which smushed together a heartwarming Christmas special with an episode of I Love Lucy where the characters go to Italy.
Nearly 8.6 million watched the first half-hour and that increased to nearly 8.8 million people for the second half-hour.
The Lucy special dominated the hour against a Shark Tank repeat on ABC (5 million people) and the first hour of It's a Wonderful Life on NBC, which for its entire run its household rating was up about 38% from last year. In the 8pm hour against Lucy, it averaged just under 5 million viewers.
