Summer Night Concert Celebrates Verdi and Wagner

Lorin Maazel conducts the orchestra and the tenor Michael Schade in the gardens of Schönbrunn Palace, a Unesco World Heritage Site. The program, taped May 30 and presented here by Great Performances (Friday - PBS, 9pm) celebrates the 200th anniversary of the births of Richard Wagner and Giuseppe Verdi with selections from Verdi’s “Aida,” “Forza del Destino” and “I Lombardi” and Wagner’s “Lohengrin,” “Meistersinger von Nürnberg” “Tristan und Isolde” and “Walküre.”
