The Underdogs Win The Amazing Race Season 21
In a race that kicked off in the middle of the night on the tiny Mallorca island in the Mediterranean and ended at the United Nations in New York City, goat farmers and long-time couple Josh Kilmer-Purcell and Brent Ridge (The Fabulous Beekman Boys) overcame big odds to take home The Amazing Race's $1 million prize.
Their first stop was in Barcelona, where twins Natalie and Nadiya, Chippendale's dancers James and Jaymes and cute couple Trey and Lexi were conspiring to form an alliance. Their plan? Knock off the Beekman Boys. Only problem, Josh and Brent overheard the whole thing.
Plan disrupted, the twins were the first team ousted.
For most challenges, Trey and Lexi appeared to be shoo-ins to win, from finding 10 types of mushroom grown in underground caverns in France, plowing land on the strength of a giant horse to delivering pizza in New York City.
Still, the final challenge required a bit of language skills and, as it turns out, mathematics. At the UN, the teams had to match the words "hello" and "goodbye" from each country they had visited to a flag flying in front of the United Nations.
Josh and Brent ran to the victory line to claim their $1 million. The guys, who are BFFs with Martha Stewart and whose Cooking Channel show is great, plan to use the money to build up their goat farm business. Aww.
